Today was the day of the long awaited return of the Anime City event that is hosted by The Genesis Foundation. It  was an anniversary of sorts since 5 years and 1 day ago on January 26, 2002, the first event was held at the Center of Excellence. I bought the VIP ticket since I support them fully in their drive to promote literacy and boy did I get my money's worth. We who held the VIP tickets got a 5 min headstart on the bargains that the event had to offer, namely a crack at the anime/manga/comic mall and boy did [profile] laurapetri go crazy. I was really happy for her, since the day before we had been speaking of the latest series that she wanted to get and this morning she got them all at good prices. There was a really good selection of things on sale and the anime offerings were quite good. We also got our own room of viewing pleasure and it was here that I saw some really good titles that I have to check into, namely Ergo Proxy and Karas- The Prophecy.

The event began at 7.00 am and ended at 7.30 pm but for diehards like myself it starts at 5ish am when we line up for entry. VIPs had a short line and thus avoided the rush. This morning was particularly cold out though and we froze as we waited and then froze some more when we got seats since the ac was workiog really well.

The crowd held some fellow diehards as well as a few newbies but its times like these that I begin to feel my age, as the crowd held some pretty young faces, but hey to each his own. I'm just glad that there are people who enjoy the artform as much as I do.

We had some pretty decent cosplayers this year but then again we usually have a crew that goes all out in their costume design and presentation. I really respect those persons who Make their own costumes and don't just buy off the rack if at all possible.

VIPs were entitled to two meals and we also got free stuff so I'd say that we really lucked out.

All in all I had a really good time and I'm glad that the event passed without hitches. I'm especially glad that I finally got the courage to get on that Dance Dance Revolution gizmo and do the dance. I had  FUN!!! with that, my song was DDR Pink Butterfly, thank God that its a short one since honestly I may have died if it was any longer. DDR is a great way to have fun and get a spot of exercise in and if I could afford it now I'd buy one tomorrow......but they retail for $3000 here and frankly I know that is a ripoff since I could get it cheaper off Amazon I'm sure, but at least I got the experience.

I had a wonderful day today.
